The 7th annual Digital Civics Exchange (DCX) aims to improve our understanding of how citizens and communities can be empowered in decision making and service provision. This year, running from 20th-23rd of May, DCX will invite students from around the world to come to Newcastle upon Tyne and work closely with local partners and academics to address challenges and empower communities.
At DCX, students can engage in mini-projects on real-world User Experience (UX) Design problems working with researchers, stakeholders, businesses and people from local communities. Alongside these projects will be the DCXplain talks event, inviting researchers to present their emerging Digital Civics research to build collaborations and showcase their work. There will also be a series of workshops allowing researchers to engage with Digital Civics work, and networking events delivered by leading researchers working in this field.
Established in 2018, this event has annually brought together students, researchers and local communities to engage with Digital Civics research; exploring ways to empower communities in decision making processes and service provision by designing technologies that create more relational interactions with local and national stakeholders.
